Hospital Policies

Appointment Policy: To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. However, emergency cases will always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delays are inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time.

Patient Arrival Policy: For your protection, and that of others, all dogs must be on a leash and properly controlled while in the waiting area or exam rooms. All cats must be presented in an appropriate cat carrier or on a leash.

We ask that children not approach strange animals. Animals can be frightened in the hospital and if they are not accustomed to children, the added stress of a child’s approach or a child’s quick movements may cause an unwanted reaction. Please be careful.

Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask you to restrain your pet. We recommend that animals be placed on a leash or in pet carriers before leaving home or minimally before exiting your vehicle to enter the waiting room. We do not want you to experience the loss of your cat because he jumped out of your arms when a dog came out of the hospital unexpectedly. Please use a crate (a closed box or pillow case works if you don’t have a crate).

For the safety of all animals in our care, we require that vaccinations be up to date.

Also, because animals may be anxious during regular exams and vaccinations, we request that you allow our trained personnel to restrain them while procedures are performed. The gentlest and friendliest dog or cat can react unexpectedly when they have been injured or are being pricked with a needle.

Drop-Off Appointments: For your convenience, “drop-off” appointments are available. A “drop-off” means that you bring your pet at a convenient time for you and leave him/her with us for the day (or a few hours). Usually we will ask you to drop off in the morning so the patient can be seen in time reserved for admitted patients or between scheduled appointments. Once the doctor is done with your pet, he will give you a call to go over the diagnosis and give you discharge instructions. There is a fee for this service to cover the necessary staff time and cage maintenance.

Payment Policy: We require full payment at the time that services are rendered. For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, cash and personal checks. If you have a large bill and need time payments, we can give you a “Care Credit” application which often can be approved that day.
