Dr. Allana Mather, DVM

Dr. Allana graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. After completing a year-long internship in emergency medicine at an emergency and referral hospital in the Milwaukee area, Dr. Allana, a native Wisconsinite and Badger through and through (B.S. in Wildlife Ecology, as well as her DVM), moved to Traverse City, Michigan to begin her veterinary career. She married Corey Mather in nearby Glen Arbor, Michigan the same month she began work at Bay Area Pet Hospital in Traverse City, where she happily worked through the Spring of 2019. Dr. Allana’s journey to have a small animal practice of her own led her and Corey to Vermont twice in 2018. The four-season natural beauty, outdoor recreation opportunities, and overall sense of community and culture made for a perfect fit for Dr. Allana, Corey, and their two young daughters, Adley & Sena. In June of 2019 Dr. Allana took over ownership of Mt. Mansfield Animal Hospital from Dr. Steve Barningham. Corey will be assisting Dr. Allana with the business administration. Dr. Allana, Corey, and the girls currently only have one cat, Toolie with them here in Vermont, and Toolie rather enjoys it that way. Though he won’t have the roost all to himself for long. When not practicing veterinary medicine or familiarizing herself in her new role in the community, Dr. Allana enjoys spending time with family, playing on Mt. Mansfield, traveling, gardening, reading, running, paddling, snow sports, and enjoying the rare quiet moments.

Dr. Stephen (Steve) C. Barningham, VMD

Steve is a 1986 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, and the long-time former owner of MMAH. Now partially retired and spending his winters in South Carolina, Steve is around practicing at MMAH during his warm-weather months back up here in Vermont, and occasionally otherwise providing some relief services for Dr. Allana. Steve, his wife and former practice manager Ruth, and their two mixed breed dogs named Sandy and Walker, two cats named Pippin and Natasha, and a cockatiel named Bobbi are greatly enjoying the (semi-)retired pace of life in both Vermont and the Palmetto State.

Lynn Collins

Lynn has been with MMAH since 1985. She is a Certified Veterinary Technician and is our chief purchasing agent for medical supplies and food. When she’s not busy helping clients and patients or keeping us well stocked, she lives in Fletcher with her husband Raymond, their two children Emma and Isaac, and their cat Dodger.

Jennifer (Jenn) Franzen

Jenn, a Certified Veterinary Technician, has been with us since 2000. She lives in Essex with her husband Chris and their daughters Payton and Arianna. They have a German Shorthaired Pointer Philotheir dog Philo, two cats Amber Fire and Domino, and a bunny named Flapjack who free roams around the house a lot of the time. When Jenn is not taking care of animals, she volunteers as an EMT with Essex Rescue.

Elise Baslow

Elise, a Certified Veterinary Technician, has worked for MMAH since 2001. She is our chief organizer. When she’s not rearranging the office or working with clients and patients, she lives in Underhill with her husband Russell, their daughter Hannah, son Brayden, two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels Ginny and Max, two cats Alex and Melman, a Guinea Pig Lucy and a dwarf hamster named Marshmallow. Elise is available for local pet sitting if you’re going to be traveling.

Renee Bitner

Renee has been with MMAH since 2007. She is our receptionist. When she’s not answering our phones, she lives in Fairfax. She has four children: Josh, Amanda, Cassie and Jaidyn. She became a grandmother for the first time in June 2013, when Colton was born. She is owned by 3 dogs: Mia, a Rottweiler; Dixie, a Pit Bull cross, and Bentley, a Chihuahua. Just ask her about dog breeds that get a bad rap!

Katelyn Little

Katelyn is a veterinary technician student and has worked for MMAH since 2016. When she is not busy studying or improving her technical skills, she is spending time with her husband Ben and their dog Louie.

Toni Rabasco

Toni joined the MMAH team in May of 2020 as a veterinarian assistant. She graduated from the University of Vermont in May of 2020 studying Animal Sciece and Wildlife Biology. In her spare time, Toni enjoys hiking, running and bird watching.

Corey Mather

Corey is MMAH’s Business Manager. He has a varied background that includes, among other things, being a Yooper (a native of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula), being a recovering attorney (MI, WI, & IL licenses), and getting enjoyment from learning new things, exercising critical thinking skills, and physical activities. Quite naturally his background in consumer class action law and a Master’s degree in Philosophy have led to his handling of the business administration of his wife’s animal hospital. Together with Allana and the Mather girls, Corey is excited to be a part of this wonderful Vermont community in the role of family business owners serving the area’s pets and pet owners.
